v142

location: leiden, the netherlands
type: architecture & interior
status: in the making
this charming double-storey house, dating back to 1750, boasts a slender 3 x 10 metre footprint, reminiscent of an era defined by proportions and quaint charm.positioned in the fortified historic centre of leiden, this former weaver’s house was a challenge with the narrowness of the house and the lack of natural light, particularly at the rear of the property. the focal point of the home emerges in the form of a meticulously crafted kitchen, meticulously designed to accommodate the owners’ passion for culinary creativity and social gatherings. a small roof terrace atop the existing roof will be added and will offer a space for a small break out space for the owners to enjoy some sunshine.though once rundown, this design will blend historic charm with modern comfort, promising a vibrant interior while honouring the past.
